Lincoln City Football Club has decided to extend the contract of forward James Collins, ensuring his presence at the club until the end of the following season. The forward, aged 35, who in January 2025 transferred to the Imps from Derby County, has made significant contributions, netting 16 goals in total from his 45 appearances across all competitions. Collins is currently recuperating from a severe knee injury incurred in December, a setback sidelining him for the duration of this season.
In a statement on Lincoln City’s official website, Collins voiced his appreciation for the club’s ongoing trust, specifically extending gratitude towards the medical staff for their standout support and care during his rehabilitation process. Over his prolific career, Collins has proudly represented clubs such as Shrewsbury, Swindon, Luton, Crawley, and Derby.
Besides Collins’ contract extension, Lincoln has publicised similar extensions for players Tendayi Darikwa, Reeco Hackett, and Conor McGrandles. The Imps currently hold the second position in League One, trailing top-ranking Cardiff City by a mere four points. The team is getting ready for their forthcoming match against Luton Town on Saturday.
