A Lincoln teenager has been cleared of manslaughter charges following a tragic incident in Skegness. 19-year-old Aston Harris, resident of Uffington Avenue, Lincoln, previously faced accusations of causing the death of Sean Howson, 56, by allegedly causing him to fall down a set of stairs during a conflict. The altercation in question took place at an Albany Road flat in Skegness last July. Harris’s trial was held at Lincoln Crown Court, during which he pleaded not guilty, arguing he acted in self-defence. After successive discussions lasting four hours, the jury acquitted Harris of the charges. The court heard that the deceased Howson had been consuming alcohol in his garden prior to the clash with Harris. The defendant maintained he responded out of self-defence and publicly conveyed his grief over Howson’s untimely death during the trial’s process.
