Paul Hurst Returns to Boston United as Manager After 15 Years

Paul Hurst has returned to Boston United as their manager after nearly 15 years away. Now aged 51, Hurst had previously managed Boston United jointly with Rob Scott before they departed to join Grimsby Town in 2011. After leaving Boston United, Hurst furthered his managerial career with spells at various clubs, including Ipswich Town, Scunthorpe United, and extended tenures at both Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury Town. His most recent role in Shrewsbury concluded in November 2024.

David Newton, Chairman of Boston United, expressed his joy at Hurst’s comeback, but also recognized that some supporters might recall the conditions of his initial exit. As Newton stated, ‘Their ambition to manage at a higher level wasn’t a problem – however, I felt that the way it was handled was not right.’ He further clarified that the issue was settled at the time with suitable compensation paid, and he still maintains a good relationship with Hurst who remained in contact with the club through pre-season matches.
