A Week of Giving, Bravery and Innovation in Lincolnshire

A remarkable week has occurred in our much-loved Lincolnshire, displaying the robust resilience and welcoming nature of our community. Through charitable endeavours to technological advancements, Lincolnshire has been a hub of activity, igniting optimism and goodwill for the foreseeable future.

The Sue Ryder palliative care charity has requested locals to donate any surplus Christmas gifts. What would be a more fitting start to the year than giving back? The extra pair of socks received from Auntie Mabel might find a new home and contribute to a worthy cause.

Simultaneously, Louth Interskill’s prospering workshop has been enjoying continued community support, creating superior wooden goods – a tribute to our regional inventiveness and laborious work ethic.

Displaying sterling courage, intrepid residents in Hornsea, Mablethorpe, and Cleethorpes braved the winter cold for a New Year’s charity swim. This gallant display brought the community closer, underlining our broader commitment to philanthropic initiatives.

While discussing kind-heartedness, 23 lovely animals have started the year in various shelters within the region, each one waiting for a caring home. If adding a new four-legged family member has crossed your mind, this could be an ideal opportunity.

A specially chosen series of pictures, courtesy of Instagram and BBC Weather Watchers, has encapsulated the stunning beauty of Lincolnshire. As we go further into 2025, let’s consistently appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us, recently made more accessible by the new boardwalk at Waters’ Edge.

Moving onto individual achievements, we share our warmest congratulations with Eleanor Hutton from Fulstow who has been awarded an MBE for her dedication to early years education- a motivating figure indeed.

This past week also saw a Lincoln woman repurpose clothing into sentimental keepsakes, thereby adding a unique touch to our community.

On a technological note, both residents and visitors can now delve into a thousand years of Lincoln Castle’s history thanks to an inventive new app – a pleasing blend of tradition meeting the modern era.

Reflecting on the week’s happenings, we are consistently reminded of the resilience, generosity, and creativity that characterise Lincolnshire. Here’s to advancing our community, making it an even better place to live, work, and relax in the coming weeks.
