A Week of Moves, Grooves and Hooves in Lincolnshire Sport

Greetings Lincolnshire! It’s time to prepare for a thrilling week in local sports, from the football field to the riding stables. Our athletes have been making quite an impact, making this an unforgettable week of dynamic sports entertainment.

The local football scene has been alive with transfer news of late. Fleetwood Town’s signing of Denver Hume, formerly of Grimsby, has gained significant attention. Equally as exciting were Zak Bradshaw’s move from Lincoln City to Cambridge United and Alistair Smith’s transfer from Lincoln City to AFC Wimbledon. Adding to the excitement, Grimsby Town have secured the skills of Jamie Walker on a two-year contract. There is, however, a setback as they’ll be missing their icelandic star, Jason Svanthorsson for up to 10 games owing to a knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Lincoln City has been diligently reforming their player development approach. Martin Hickerton deserves a shout out for his efforts to rejuvenate county-wide grassroots football. With Grimsby Town set to commence their season with a League Two fixture against Crawley Town, and Lincoln City squaring off against Reading in their League One opener, football passion continues to consume Lincolnshire.

Beyond football, Boston’s Dean Mason is impressing at the UK’s Strongest Man competition. Best of luck, Dean! Over in the equestrian world, Lincolnshire’s barrel racing teenagers are heading to the US for contention in the National Barrel Horse Association World Championships. Good luck to our riders!

This week witnessed triumphs, transfers, and a touch of uncertainty – particularly for Scunthorpe’s Tai Woffinden who faces an unclear path ahead following a major crash earlier this year. Our hearts are with you, Tai. Keep pressing on, Lincolnshire. And always remember, whether we win or lose, it’s the love of the sport that truly matters.
