A Week of Nostalgia and Triumph: Lincolnshire Comes Alive!

This past week, Lincolnshire saw a lively celebration of life, culture, and community spirit which truly brightened up our cherished county. With a multitude of diverse events ranging from commemorating cherished political figures to retro-themed celebrations, Lincolnshire has been alive with festivity, truly capturing the very essence of our unique region.

Kicking off the week’s activities was a tribute to Lincolnshire’s very own ‘Iron Lady’. The Thatcher Fest in Grantham was a vibrant celebration of the enduring spirit of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The shows, held amongst others at Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre, were a poignant reminder of her enduring influence, whilst also showcasing our town’s significant contributions to the country’s history.

If you are a fan of throwback fun, the retro-themed extravaganza, ‘The Big Night Out’, was an exciting event held at the Lincoln County Assembly Rooms. Organised by Never Forget, this event took attendees on a nostalgic journey back in time. It created a lively amalgamation of music, fashion, and dance from yesteryears and it truly brought the community together.

This lively week also heralded the welcome return of the Cleethorpes VW Festival. After a break last year due to the founder’s son undergoing surgery, the celebration of Volkswagen was once again buzzing in the county. Not only did this festival unite VW fans, but it also stood as a testament to the resilience and unity of the local community, raising finances for a significant cause.

Alongside these events, Lincolnshire also hosted high-tech agricultural exhibitions, exhilarating motorcycle events, Lincoln’s final Race for Life, and a thrilling performance by a top dance music band. Without a doubt, this week was bursting with excitement, festivity, and community spirit, further affirming Lincolnshire’s status as an exciting summer destination. Here’s to hoping for more weeks filled with such vigour and excitement right here in the heart of our beloved county!
