A Week of Triumphs, Trials, and Tributes in Lincolnshire Football

In a week filled with tension and intense emotions, Lincolnshire football impassioned us immensely, leading us from jubilant cheers to mournful tears. The week was a touching tribute to legends past and present, dreams realised, and thrilling introductions. Lincolnshire’s local teams embarked on a rollercoaster week of victory and commemoration.

The week began on a sombre note with the passing of Scunthorpe United’s revered striker, Barrie Thomas. At the age of 88, Thomas’ legacy extends beyond Scunthorpe to Newcastle United, and profoundly impacts the entire community. His valiant battle with cancer serves as a moving testament to the courage exhibited not just on the field but also beyond it.

Providing a ray of hope, a young football enthusiast’s dreams materialised as he took to the pitch as a mascot for Grimsby Town during their historic match against Manchester United. His radiant smile served as a heartfelt homage to the wonder that football can instil in the lives of young people.
