Billinghay and District Community Pool Secured by £25k Fundraiser

The Billinghay and District Community Pool, a valued local facility, will be reopening in the year 2026, courtesy of a successful fundraiser which raised £25,000. These crucial funds will cover the expenditure for new tiles, allowing the pool to once again welcome visitors. The local committee who had previously deliberated over handing the pool back to the Lincolnshire County Council due to lack of sufficient funds, lauded the dedication of the community in preserving this asset.

Established by the villagers of Billinghay in 1972, the pool has established itself as a central component of the community, typically running services from May through September. Despite its temporary closure in March, the community united to participate in various fundraising endeavours such as carol singing, bingo, raffles, and Elf trails. These activities were substantially supported by the Billinghay Parish Council.

Committee member, Sam Keyworth, expressed his gratitude for the community’s consistent support, while also emphasising the need for continual fundraising initiatives to guarantee the pool’s long-standing future. The committee also has plans to extend the pool’s operational period from April to October, which reflects fresh strategies put forth by new committee members.

Mr Keyworth mentioned the revitalising influence of younger members who have brought innovative strategies to breathe new life into the project.
