Boston Food Bank Seeks Support Amid Rising Demand

The Boston Food Bank, an integral part of The Trussell Trust network, urgently requires donations of non-perishable items like tinned food, dry pasta, and bags of rice. Housed at St Botolph’s Church, frequently referred to as Boston Stump, the food bank has observed an unrivalled surge in demand over the past year. This increase has been primarily due to the added expenses of heating homes.

Father David Stevenson, the church’s rector, has underscored the food bank’s critical function as a cornerstone for individuals in Boston who are grappling with the ability to afford both food and heating. In the current year alone, the facility has aided 3,000 people, comprising almost 1,000 children enduring poverty.

As part of their harvest appeal, the food bank is inspiring local residents to donate items that can easily be converted into meals. Alina, a past beneficiary of the food bank who now volunteers every week, voiced her hopeful aspiration that no one else should undergo the worry of food deprivation.
