Boston United in Talks to Secure Manager Coughlan’s Future

Boston United chairman David Newton has confirmed the club have begun negotiating a new contract with manager Graham Coughlan.

7 August 20251 min read

Boston United’s chairman, David Newton, has announced that the football club has embarked on contract renewal discussions with their manager, Graham Coughlan. Since assuming control of the team last November, Coughlan has expertly navigated the Pilgrims from a potential relegation in the National League, sealing their position in the vital penultimate match. He equated this achievement to performing ‘a miracle’. Earlier this year, when Hartlepool United showed an interest in hiring Coughlan for their vacant managerial position, Boston United promptly dismissed the proposition. While speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Newton communicated the club’s determination to maintain Coughlan’s services remarking, ‘Hartlepool made us a laughable offer, but we want Graham to stay with us. The matter was dealt with instantly and decisively.’ Based on Coughlan’s rich experience at superior levels, the discussions hold a cloud of uncertainty. However, optimism continues to anchor the club’s expectations. Newton also provided updates on the ongoing development of the fourth stand at Boston Community Stadium during his chat on BBC Sounds.
