Boston’s Dean Mason Competes for UK’s Strongest Man Title

Dean Mason is taking on 15 other competitors in a bid to win the national title this weekend.

Boston’s Dean Mason Competes for UK’s Strongest Man Title

Dean Mason, originating from Boston, Lincolnshire, is preparing to contest for the title of UK’s Strongest Man in an exciting televised competition held in Nottingham this weekend. A professional cable jointer by trade, Mason credits his rigorous training to his outdoors working conditions.

This competition guarantees a challenging test of strength, incorporating events including a 12-tonne lorry pull, the bending of a steel bar, and the haulage of a sizeable 140kg sack across a 25-metre course. Mason, who tips the scales at approximately 160kg, maintains his gruelling preparation regime with a daily intake of 7,000 calories, commencing with a breakfast comprising eight eggs.

His foray into strongman contests initiated after the Covid-19 pandemic when his local gym installed strongman training apparatus, kindling his investment in the sport. This competitive endeavour rapidly culminated in him securing the title of Boston’s Strongest Man in 2021, laying the foundation for his participation in national competitions. Currently, in competition with 15 formidable rivals, he is striving for the most esteemed honour.

Regarding his aspiration, Mason stated, “It would be incredible to win, but I’m merely going to relish the experience and give it my utmost effort. Having reached this level of competition already feels like a dream realised.”

A group of supporters from Mason’s hometown, Boston, are expected to rally behind him at the Motorpoint Arena, providing a sense of home-field advantage as he vies for the distinguished title.
