Cable Theft in Moulton Chapel Disrupts Internet for Thousands

Around 2,500 properties in Moulton Chapel, located near Spalding, have lost internet and phone services following a cable theft. As a result of the crime, which Lincolnshire Police are currently investigating, residents and businesses are facing significant disruption, which occurred at approximately 08:50 GMT on Monday. The UK’s digital network maintenance company, Openreach, reported that their engineers are actively involved in service restoration.

Andrew Fowler, a local businessman who runs Fowler’s Coaches in Holbeach Drove, drew comparisons between the incident and the power cuts of the 1970s. He expressed his annoyance over the inability to access necessary systems for the operation of his enterprise. Julie Watkins of Blooms and Wicks in Whaplode Drove also shared her difficulties in launching a new product line owing to the internet blackout.

Openreach has appealed to Spalding citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious happenings to the police.
