Classical Tunes Soothe Rescue Horses at Lincoln’s Bransby Horses

At Bransby Horses, a prominent equine rescue centre located on the borders of Lincoln, rescue horses find solace in the melodies of Beethoven’s classical tune, Für Elise. The staff members at the charity have realised the calming effects of classical music on these creatures.

“The horses enjoy the music,” remarks Emma Carter, the deputy chief executive at Bransby Horses. The music echoes within the stables as The Bay Boys, a group of brown thoroughbreds celebrated for their lively spirit, turn their ears towards the peak of the piano melody.

“Studies indicate that music can effectively reduce stress hormones and regulate heart rates,” Emma shares. She further adds that the horses do not show much discernment towards their music, prompting the staff to choose pieces which maintain a “soft, regular tempo”.

“Personally, I am rather fond of Beethoven,” shares Emma.

This charity is committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of horses, many of whom come from severe abuse. The soothing rhythms of classical music have significantly facilitated in alleviating the levels of stress in these horses.
