East Midlands health official issues meningitis warning after outbreak
Local News

Health officials in the East Midlands have issued a warning to residents across Lincolnshire to be alert to the signs and symptoms of meningitis following an outbreak.
The illness can develop suddenly and may be life‑threatening, particularly for children and young people. Families are being urged not to ignore symptoms and to seek medical advice quickly if they are concerned.
Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms can include a high temperature, severe headache, a stiff neck, sensitivity to light, vomiting, drowsiness or confusion, and in some cases a rash that does not fade when pressed.
Anyone in Lincolnshire who suspects meningitis is advised to act promptly and contact NHS services for urgent guidance.
