Final Journey for Legendary Lincolnshire Coach Driver Alan Cartwright

In a touching tribute, much-loved Lincolnshire coach driver, Alan Cartwright, who sadly passed away in May, is set to make his final journey on board a vintage bus for his funeral procession. As a co-founder of Osbournby-based A&P Travel, which he initiated with his son Paul in 2006, Alan dedicated more than six decades of his life to travelling the highways before his death on 9 May. The procession will include a 1950s Bedford OB bus, escorted by various modern coaches, which will traverse local pick-up locations in Grantham and Sleaford. Subsequent to the procession, a memorial service is scheduled at St Wulfram’s Church in Grantham.

Paying tribute to his father, Paul Cartwright stated, “My father was deeply committed to the coach tourism industry, escorting people to various destinations and creating cherished memories for thousands over a period of six decades. His absence will be deeply felt by numerous individuals across the county and nation. We hope this will be an appropriate homage to his lifelong career.” Paul also extended his gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy following his father’s death, appreciating the kind sentiments from members of the coaching industry and customers. “We have received countless supportive messages from the entire spectrum our coaching community and customers. We are truly so appreciative,” he added.

Alan Cartwright’s considerable contributions to the community through A&P Travel have left a lasting legacy, with numerous individuals nostalgically reminiscing about the day trips and holidays he meticulously planned and executed, as articulated in tributes posted on social media.
