First-Time Visitor Heads to Lincolnshire — and Locals Spill Their Best Walks, Views and Must-See Spots
Community

A first-time visitor to Lincolnshire has turned to locals for help ahead of a four-night stay near Gainsborough — and the county’s best-loved beauty spots are already flying in.
Posting on the Lincolnshire subreddit, the traveller said they’re “ticking it off the list” as one of the last English counties they’ve yet to visit. They’ve already lined up trips to Lincoln, Stamford and the Kinema in the Woods — the much-loved woodland cinema near Woodhall Spa — but wanted more ideas for relaxed days out.
The brief was simple: somewhere scenic for a gentle walk, good for photos, and ideally with a café or town to “have a nice mooch around” afterwards. With colder weather in mind, they were torn between heading into the Lincolnshire Wolds or making for the coast.
Lincolnshire residents were quick to point them towards Louth — a market town that often gets overlooked by visitors racing elsewhere. One local urged them to try Hubbard’s Hills, the small valley park on the edge of town, calling it ideal for a stroll and “great photos”.
For Stamford, another commenter said the must-do is Burghley House, recommending its sweeping parkland for a proper walk with classic views.
And for anyone chasing the most scenic shots, one local photographer offered a three-stop shortlist: Lincoln for its historic streets and skyline, Louth for charm and countryside, and Cleethorpes for classic seaside scenes.
The visitor, travelling with their partner, said they were looking for “one of the most beautiful parts of Lincolnshire” — and if the early suggestions are anything to go by, they won’t be short of options.
