Grimsby Baby Bank Appeals for Help as Supplies Spoiled by Damp and Mould

The West Marsh Baby Bank located in Grimsby is confronting an ambiguous future as it witnessed the ruin of the majority of their donated resources due to damp and mould. The Baby Bank, nestled within the West Marsh Community Centre, utilises an old shipping container for storage, that has recently started to leak. Leanne Hudson, the establishment’s founder has voiced concerns that without a substitute storage option, the bank may fail to continue offering its crucial service.

Hudson explicated, ‘We have been compelled to throw away approximately 80% of our stock,’ underlining the criticality of their predicament. From its establishment in 2022, the bank has furnished around 15 families every week with essential commodities including nappies, milk formula, and prams. With the present cost of living crisis affecting a swathe of people, inclusive of employed families, the requirement for support has seen an escalation. Hudson is therefore envisaging help to procure a new container or monetary aid to guarantee the perpetuation of their services for the public.
