Grimsby Ice Rink Secures £150k for Essential Upgrades

Grimsby’s well-loved ice rink, located on Cromwell Road, has received a critical financial boost thanks to tireless fundraising efforts by a local community group. The dedicated group has succeeded in raising £150,000 to carry out essential refurbishments at the 50-year-old facility, which was at risk of closure.

Improvements include the complete replacement of barriers and the installation of a more energy-efficient ice chiller. These upgrades, managed by the Grimsby Ice Rink Community Group since 2017, are seen as vital to ensure the rink’s future.

The rink plays a key role in supporting local ice sports, and these renovations will ensure it can continue to provide this service for many more years. Caroline Allan, a voluntary director of the group, highlighted the significance of these upgrades in ensuring the longevity of the rink.
