Immingham Dogs Home Cancels Show Amidst Rising Temperatures

Immingham Dogs Home has called off its annual show due to the expected heatwave.

Immingham Dogs Home Cancels Show Amidst Rising Temperatures

Immingham Dogs Home, located in North East Lincolnshire, has opted to cancel their summer dog show due to safety risks stemming from the current heatwave. Predicted temperatures of 30C in parts of the UK led to the charity prioritising the wellbeing of both the dogs and the event’s attendees. Shakira Magee, who is the manager of marketing and events, commented, ā€˜The heat is simply too intense for the dogs and it’s only fair to consider their comfort. We would rather avoid jeopardising their safety.’ In place of the physical show, Immingham Dogs Home will organise a virtual competition and a raffle to gather funds. Participants are encouraged to contribute photos for categories including Best Rescue, Playful Puppy, and Longest Tongue, all at a charge of Ā£1 per entry. The charity has also dispatched advice to dog owners on how best to keep their pets safe during the heat. Suggestions include going for walks during the cooler parts of the day, ensuring the dogs are plentifully hydrated, and enabling them to remain indoors as much as possible.
