Lincoln City’s JJ McKiernan Heads to Burton Albion on Loan

Lincoln City’s midfielder, JJ McKiernan, has secured a season-long loan to Burton Albion, signifying his return to the Pirelli Stadium. The 23-year-old player previously played for Burton in the latter half of last season. With 19 starts to his name, his significant contribution supported in the Brewers’ victorious campaign against relegation.

McKiernan began his professional career with Watford, before debuting as a senior during a loan period at Eastleigh. He later had a stint at Morecambe for the 2023-24 season with an impressive record of seven goals in 33 appearances.

During his tenure at Lincoln City, the Northern Irish player made 17 appearances and scored a single goal. This highlighted his potential and showcased his versatility on the pitch. On his return to Burton Albion, McKiernan expressed his excitement saying, “I’m truly happy to be back and am keen to continue from where we finished.”

Gary Bowyer, head coach of Burton Albion, lauded McKiernan for his positive impact, not only on the field but also off the pitch. According to Bowyer, McKiernan played an instrumental role in ensuring the team maintained their League One status.
