Lincoln Half Marathon Returns with Scenic Route and Road Closures

This Sunday, the city of Lincoln is set to play host to a charitable half marathon, orchestrated by Jane Tomlinson’s group Run For All in partnership with the city council. The 13.1-mile race, which begins and concludes at Lincolnshire Showground, will guide runners along a path through historic Lincoln, passing by several significant landmarks such as the renowned Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. This sporting event acts as a supplement to the annual 10 kilometre race that traditionally takes place each April. Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director for Run For All, expressed his aspiration for all competitors to relish in the experience of the day, irrespective of whether their motivation is purely enjoyment, charity fundraising, or the pursuit of a personal record in running.

The half marathon will officially start from the Lincolnshire Showground and follow a route that will take runners through Middle Street and Brayford Wharf South before looping back around. Depending on capacity, there may be opportunity to register on the day of the event itself. Participants will be able to collect their race numbers from the race office commencing from 07:00 BST. A warm-up session is scheduled for 09:20, leading up to the race kicking off at 09:30.

In order to stage the race, a selection of roads including Yarborough Road, Brayford Wharf, and Newland will be temporarily closed from 08:30 to 13:30. Additionally, all parking will be suspended from 18:00 on Saturday until 13:30 on the day of the race. For the benefit of local residents, a comprehensive list of road closure times and locations is available. Run For All reassures everyone that the marathon is accessible to all, regardless of physical capability, maintaining the inclusive legacy of Jane Tomlinson, who managed to raise a staggering £2 million for charitable causes prior to her death in 2007.
