Lincolnshire Sees ‘Ridiculous’ Number of Drink and Drug-Driving Arrests in 2025

In 2025, Lincolnshire Police recorded a worrying number of arrests for drink and drug-driving offences. Inspector Jason Baxter has characterised the figures as exorbitant. Up until now, a total of 1,223 arrests have been recorded, which, although slightly lower than the 1,383 in 2024, is still a cause for concern.

During December, the police have initiated a campaign to address this issue, with a surge in patrols expected over the festive season, a time when these offences typically escalate. Inspector Baxter brings attention to the hazard of people choosing to drive under the influence after attending Christmas festivities. He further promotes the idea of scheduling travel arrangements responsibly such as utilising designated drivers, hiring taxis or utilising public transportation.

Simon Outen-Coe from the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership has voiced warnings about the severe repercussions of such offences. Punishments can range from the loss of employment and driving licence to endangering others’ lives.
