Lincolnshire Set to Host Its Own Great Exhibition

Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, has unveiled plans for a notable event intended to showcase the standout features of the county. The event, inspired by the notable Great Exhibition of 1851 that accentuated the UK’s industrial and cultural triumphs, will primarily highlight local novelty, ingenuity and technology of Lincolnshire. The event is slated to be held at the Lincolnshire Showground close to Lincoln on 22 October, with aims to draw in new trade and investment towards this area.

This inaugural ‘Great Exhibition’, as Dame Andrea hopes, would boost Lincolnshire’s economic stature and transform it into an yearly celebration that glorifies the strengths of this county. “Lincolnshire excels at the global stage in several crucial industrial sectors and holds enormous potential for inward investment and innovation,” Dame Andrea expressed. She highlighted that Lincolnshire is a ‘hub for commercial activities, a site for innovation and an attractive space for investment,’ thus encapsulating the rich resources and capabilities of the county.

Post her election victory as a representative of Reform UK in May, Dame Andrea pledged to host this exhibition, merging it with her vision to ‘restore Britain to its glorious past.’ The inaugural Great Exhibition, orchestrated by Prince Albert and inaugurated by Queen Victoria in London, was a milestone event attracting millions, including distinguished figures like Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin. The proceedings from that exhibition significantly contributed towards setting up London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum, and Natural History Museum.
