Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance Sees Surge in Christmas Call-Outs

The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance has witnessed a noteworthy increase in emergency call-outs over the recent Christmas period, emphasising its important operation across Lincolnshire. From 23rd December up to 1st January 2026, the crew responded to 55 emergencies, a substantial raise from 35 missions undertaken in the same duration in the preceding year of 2024. The steadfast commitment of the crew members, who worked relentlessly while numerous people were enjoying their Christmas celebrations at home, was acknowledged by the Chief Executive Karen Jobling.

The breakdown of the call-outs reveals that 29 were pertaining to medical emergencies, while nine were consequent to road traffic incidents. The 29th of December marked the day with the highest number of missions, with a total of 13. “The increase in missions emphasises the indispensable status of our service, which is bolstered by the spectacular support of our community,” Jobling noted. Over the last year, the charity has conducted 1,608 missions and has provided treatment to an excess of one thousand patients.

On the horizon, the air ambulance service is looking forward to the introduction of newly critical care cars in February and is preparing for fund-raising ventures in anticipation of augmenting the fleet with a second helicopter in 2027. The charity leans completely on donations to foot its operational tab, which amounts to millions on an annual basis.
