Mablethorpe Car Thief Jailed After High-Speed Police Pursuit

Benjamin Tindall, a 23-year-old from Mablethorpe, has been handed a 16-month prison sentence in response to his involvement in a high-speed police pursuit. Tindall was at the wheel of a stolen BMW during the chase, which reached top speeds of around 115mph.

The incident first came into motion on Seacroft Road, Mablethorpe, where Tindall stole the vehicle. The car had been left running by its owner, outside a newsagent, early on the morning of 5 October, presenting Tindall with the opportunity to commit the theft.

Mablethorpe police followed Tindall’s reckless journey across Lincolnshire. This chase led them through villages, like Stickford and Midville, as they attempted to keep up with the speeding BMW. Tindall was even seen travelling at high speed through a 30mph zone near New Leake Primary School.

The pursuit ended dramatically when Tindall crashed the vehicle into a tree. Subsequent tests indicated that Tindall was exceeding the legal limit for alcohol and had consumed both cocaine and cannabis prior to the incident. Tindall, who was on bail at the time due to a prior offence in Lincoln, admitted his guilt for various charges, which included aggravated vehicle taking and driving while disqualified. A three-year driving ban has now been imposed upon him.
