New 999 initiative launched to aid Lincolnshire’s vulnerable residents

Residents throughout Lincolnshire who may struggle with communication now have the opportunity to connect with a trailblazing initiative intended to enhance their engagement with the police. The Pegasus programme, first introduced in Nottinghamshire by Paralympian Chris Channon, has been implemented by Humberside Police and can now be accessed by individuals in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. The initiative provides crucial support for those who may be neurodivergent, disabled, or anxious, offering them a card and a distinctive pin. Merely stating ‘Pegasus’ during a 999 call allows police call-handlers to instantly access the caller’s details, ensuring a prompt and precise response. This programme is not only a progression in communication, but it also strengthens the safety and tranquillity of Lincolnshire’s vulnerable residents. Registering is free and only requires a handful of basic details, which are securely retained.
