RAF Red Arrows Support Children’s Wards at Lincoln County Hospital with Charity Efforts

The renowned RAF Red Arrows team has once again proved their dedication to supporting the local community by raising £460 for the children’s wards at Lincoln County Hospital. The funds were gathered over a month-long physical challenge, which covered 8,000 miles. These funds will be put to good use to improve facilities in the Rainforest and Safari wards at the hospital.

Ben Petts, the Charity Manager for Lincolnshire Hospitals, expressed genuine delight upon receiving the donation. This latest fundraising effort by the RAF Red Arrows contributes to a remarkable total of over £3,500 raised by the team over the years. As Petts stated, “These funds will help us purchase additional equipment for the children’s ward, which will enhance the lives of our young patients, their families, and the hospital staff who care for them.”

The fundraising challenge involved pilots and support staff taking part in various physical activities such as running, swimming, walking, rowing, and cycling. The distance covered was equivalent to travelling from their home base at RAF Waddington to their pre-season training camps in Croatia and Greece. Employees from the children’s wards were given a special opportunity to visit RAF Waddington, meet the engineers who participated in the challenge, and watch a captivating aerobatic display.

Expressing her gratitude, Play Leader Karen O’Connor said, “We are truly thankful for the support from the Red Arrows team, and for the time they devote to visiting the ward. They bring much-needed festive cheer to the children and families during the Christmas season.”
