Reform UK Gains Ground in South Kesteven District Council By-Election

Reform UK has marked a significant progression in the South Kesteven District Council by-election with the attainment of two supplementary seats. The by-election was occasioned by the stepping down of two councillors, resulting in a fierce contest. Kyle Abel was successful in the Aveland Ward, narrowly outvoting Conservative candidate Tony Vaughan by a mere 10 votes. In the meantime, Richard Litchfield secured the Belmont Ward, narrowly surpassing Conservative candidate Adam Stokes by a slim margin of two votes. These triumphs increase Reform UK’s overall total to five seats out of the 56 on the council, potentially denoting a shift in local political dynamics. The elections were required following the resignation of Conservative councillor Richard Dixon-Warren and Independent councillor Phil Gadd.
