Scunthorpe Petrol Stations Promote Organ Donation Week

Petrol stations across Scunthorpe are taking part in the national effort to increase the number of organ donor registrations by running promotional advertisements on petrol pump handles. This campaign has been organised to coincide with the launch of Organ Donation Week, aiming to raise awareness amongst the multitude of motorists who use the petrol stations each week. According to the NHS Humber Health Partnership, there are presently more than 7,900 individuals waiting for organ transplants across the United Kingdom. This figure represents the highest number in the last ten years. Helen Russell, who specialises in organ donation as a nurse at Hull Royal Infirmary, underscored how selecting locations with considerable foot traffic will help maximise the reach of the campaign.
