Scunthorpe United’s defender Jonathan Gjoshe has been medically cleared to return to training following recovery from injuries sustained during an assault. The 22-year-old had to undergo surgery after sustaining a bicep injury during the incident in November.

Gjoshe joined Scunthorpe in September and was also registered with Bottesford Town, a non-league team in Lincolnshire at the time of the assault. Andy Butler, the manager of Scunthorpe, told BBC Radio Humberside that Gjoshe’s rehabilitation at the club would commence, with training set to begin in the first week of January.

“He’s been authorised to carry out his rehabilitation here, so it’s wonderful to see Jonathan,” Butler expressed. “It’s a step-by-step process, we’re observing his progress, not only physically but mentally too. He’s aware of our unwavering support.”

In the wake of the train attack, which was enroute to London and was diverted to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, eleven individuals were admitted to hospital. Anthony Williams, 32, has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
