Teenager Claims Self-Defence in Skegness Manslaughter Trial

A Lincoln-based teenager is currently standing trial at Lincoln Crown Court, charged with manslaughter in the aftermath of a Skegness man’s death. Nineteen-year-old Aston Harris, an inhabitant of Uffington Avenue, Lincoln, stands accused of causing the fatal injuries of Sean Howson, 56 years of age. The unfortunate incident unfolded on 3rd July of the previous year in a block of flats situated on Albany Road, Skegness. According to Harris, he was acting in self-defence during the dispute and was fearful for his own life. He alleges that the quarrel originated from issues regarding rubbish disposal in a communal shed, which subsequently escalated to the point of physical confrontation. It’s reported Harris pushed Howson down a flight of stairs. Mr. Howson tragically passed away three days later in a local medical facility, as a direct result of injuries sustained. Harris, in response to the charges, firmly denies intent to harm and recalls his fear during the altercation, remarking, ‘He appeared threatening to me’. The trial remains in progress.
