Tony Roach’s Life at Sea: From Trawlerman to Grimsby Tour Guide

Tony Roach, a seasoned Lincolnshire trawlerman, initiated his seafaring journey when he was just 12 years old, accompanying his father on his expeditions at sea. His initial voyages were far from enjoyable, however, with a daring period spent as a stowaway, Tony went on to pursue a full-fledged maritime career. Over a period of three decades, he made his presence felt in the fishing industry, specifically on the Ross Tiger during the 1960s. At present, Tony utilises his extensive knowledge and shares his adventures of the sea as a tour guide at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. This is now the home of the Ross Tiger, preserved as a historical exhibit to honour Lincolnshire’s rich fishing traditions.
