Hudgell Solicitors, the family’s legal representatives, have stated that it was only after the involvement of a private specialist that Tommie was provided with cochlear implants, causing a life-changing transformation, according to his mother. The trust has extended its apology, however, due to legal restrictions, it is unable to discuss individual cases.

An audit by the British Academy of Audiology conducted earlier this year exposed a range of serious shortcomings within the trust’s audiology departments, including the mishandling of newborn hearing tests. Consequently, a thorough investigation and recall of potentially affected children have been initiated. NHS England has verified the implementation of required improvements.
