Cleethorpes family festival offers a seaside day out for Lincolnshire visitors

Events & Entertainment

Cleethorpes is set to host a family festival this Saturday, offering Lincolnshire visitors a full day of activities across the town centre and seafront. Love Cleethorpes will run from 10.00 to 16.00, with events planned in Market Place, St Peter's Street, Sea View Street and on the beach. The one-day festival is being organised by Checkmate Productions on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Council and is being promoted as a celebration of the resort, its seaside setting and its community. The programme is designed to be family friendly and easy to explore on foot, with activities spread across central locations close to the seafront. Organisers say the aim is to encourage people to spend more time discovering different parts of Cleethorpes, rather than staying only on the beachfront. At St Peter's Church, visitors can expect a range of creative and community activities. These include craft sessions, a community mural, storytelling with author Katie Hopper, a drop-in animation workshop and a silent disco. The church programme adds a hands-on element to the day and is intended to appeal to children and families looking for interactive activities. Sea View Street is due to host live music from Spencer Booth, All For One Choir and Mouse and the Moon. A makers' market is also planned there, bringing together local traders and creators. Elsewhere, traders are expected to join in through exhibitions and shop window displays, helping to extend the festival atmosphere beyond the main performance areas. On the beach near the pier, a community dog show is also scheduled to take place, adding another attraction for day-trippers heading to the coast. Organiser Katie-Lou Green said the event had been created to showcase what Cleethorpes has to offer and to encourage visitors to explore more of the resort during the day. A trail of red plaques called Loved by Locals is also planned, highlighting people, places and businesses across the town. The overall line-up places a strong emphasis on participation, with music, workshops, storytelling and community activities making up the programme. Organisers say the spread of events across several locations is intended to shine a light on different parts of Cleethorpes and support independent businesses and community groups at the same time. Cleethorpes, within North East Lincolnshire, remains one of the best-known coastal destinations in the area, and the festival is being positioned as a chance to celebrate local identity while offering a varied day out by the sea. The Lincoln Post has not independently verified the organisers' claims or the full programme details published so far. However, based on the information released, Love Cleethorpes is set to bring together performances, creative sessions and community events in a single Saturday festival centred on the town's seaside character.
