Lincoln police renew appeal after man dies days after being found seriously injured

Lincolnshire Police have renewed an appeal for information after a 56-year-old man died several days after he was found seriously injured at a property in Lincoln. The man, named by police as Karol Czyz, was found on 21 March and taken to hospital, where he remained in a critical condition. He died three days later. Police have said they are treating the death as suspicious and that inquiries are continuing. As part of the appeal, police said Mr Czyz was last seen in public on 19 March at about 3.36pm on Lincoln High Street, where he was with another man near Tealby Street. Officers believe he may then have gone to the South Park convenience shop before continuing along the High Street and turning on to Tealby Street. Police also believe he may have travelled through Sidney Street, Bargate and Craven Street. The renewed appeal is focused on whether anyone in those parts of Lincoln may remember seeing Mr Czyz or may have recorded anything that could help establish his movements in the period before he was found injured. Police have asked residents, motorists and businesses in the area to check any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage they may have from 19 March. The case concerns busy residential and shopping streets close to routes used daily by people travelling in and out of the city centre. Investigators are seeking to piece together a clearer timeline of Mr Czyz's movements and are urging anyone who was in the area to review any information they may hold. Three men aged 31, 38 and 43 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Lincolnshire Police. The force said they have since been released on police bail while the investigation continues. Police have not released further details about the circumstances in which Mr Czyz was found injured. The Lincoln Post has not independently verified these claims. The appeal covers Lincoln High Street, Tealby Street, Sidney Street, Bargate and Craven Street, with officers particularly interested in information from the afternoon and evening of 19 March. Anyone who was in those areas at the time and believes they may have relevant footage or other information is being urged by police to check what they have. No further details about the cause of death or the events leading up to the incident have been made public. The investigation remains ongoing. The renewed appeal underlines the importance of even small pieces of information in cases where investigators are working to establish a person's last known movements. In a city centre area with regular footfall and traffic, police believe a witness account or previously overlooked recording may help clarify what happened in the days before Mr Czyz was discovered injured.
