Concerns Raised Over Bullying and Support at Lincoln’s St Peter’s C of E Primary

Concerns have been raised about St Peter’s C of E Primary School, situated on Cambridge Street in Lincoln, due to its ‘inadequate’ rating by Ofsted. Crucial issues surrounding instances of bullying and the utilisation of racist and homophobic language within the school environment have been cited. The Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust, which is responsible for the overall governance of the school, has been contacted to provide a response.

Ofsted’s assessment has described the school’s safeguarding procedures as ‘ineffective’, accentuating that the pupils do not receive an education that meets appropriate standards. The report also commented that pupils who require special educational provision or have a recognised disability (SEND) are not consistently given access to top-quality resources. The teaching of phonics to younger pupils was one area commended by the report, however, it identified that older pupils encounter difficulties with reading.

Additional problems were underscored in the report, including the above average rates of pupil absenteeism and low staff morale. Ofsted concluded that both the school and the governing trust maintain an overly optimistic perception of their performance and lack the ability to implement crucial improvements urgently.
