Plans have been approved to convert a former accountancy office on Dudley Street, Grimsby, into an 18-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO). This decision has been reached despite concerns raised by local residents and councillors regarding potential increases in traffic and noise. The approval by North East Lincolnshire Council secured a close victory with a five to three vote. The agent responsible for the development, Matt Deakins, dismissed concerns about car parking requirements. Deakins reasoned that only six parking spaces would be necessary due to the building’s close proximity to the town centre and existing transport links. Park ward councillor Robson Augusta, however, voiced strong opposition by branding the project as ‘overdevelopment’ in an area he believes is already overrun with HMOs.
