Fifth Large Python Abandoned in North Lincolnshire Woodland

A reticulated python, the fifth of its kind, spanning a length of 16ft (5m) has been found deserted in North Lincolnshire, raising unease among the locals. The snake was spotted by a motorist passing through Twigmoor Woods, close to Scunthorpe, on a Saturday evening. This incident follows the continuous inquiry carried out by the rural task force of Humberside Police after four similar instances occurred in the same vicinity on June 15. Harry Eynon, the rescuer who noticed the snake while returning home, expressed his astonishment and concern indicating that such an observation is unusual in the UK.

The deserted snake was recovered by RSG Reptiles and taken to their dedicated rescue centre near Alford. Investigations at the centre determined that the snake was malnourished and suffering from respiratory troubles. Rob Stokes, who established the centre, emphasised the inhumane and illegal act of abandoning such pets. He stated that despite the reptiles being non-venomous, they could potentially threaten the local fauna. Stokes suspects that the five snakes were likely abandoned by the same culprit(s).

The python, affectionately named Dave by one of his rescuers, is now accommodated at the rescue centre alongside the other snakes. To aid their upkeep, RSG Reptiles has initiated an online fundraiser to help bear the cost of their enclosures and veterinary expenses.
