Trevor Frater, a resident of Lincoln, has been instructed by Lincoln Crown Court to settle an outstanding amount of £44,518.78, failure of which could result in an eight-month imprisonment sentence. The 64-year-old was accused and found guilty of operating unlicensed security companies, namely Elite Security and Elite Door Staff, employing unlicensed personnel at businesses across Lincolnshire.
This development comes after Frater entered a plea of guilty in September 2024 for offences under the private security industry act, which resulted in a nine-month sentence being suspended. In spite of affirming in 2021 that he had limited assets, subsequent investigations discovered over £100,000 in assets. This revelation led to the imposition of the present confiscation order.
Frater, who earlier faced conviction for related offences in 2021 and 2018, has been given a deadline till 25th July to make the payment, or he will have to serve the jail term. The significance and implications of such rulings were underscored by Pete Easterbrook from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). He reiterated that such orders safeguard public safety and act as a deterrent against malpractices in the industry, noting that Frater benefitted considerably from his illicit activities.
