The famed 190-year-old clock positioned above Lincoln’s notable Stonebow gateway on High Street is functioning once more, after being motionless for well over a year. From May 2024, both local residents and visitors had observed the inertia of the 19th Century time indicator, a valued aspect of the city’s heritage. Dedicated engineers travelled from Cumbria to revive the clock, introducing a new winding mechanism just last Thursday afternoon. A representative from Lincoln City Council disclosed their delight in the clock’s restoration, stating: “This clock has been a constant in the city for nearly two centuries, and we’re delighted to witness its return to full functionality.”
