Enforcement measures and a cut in the limit are among the things called for by people in Wragby.

Residents Demand Speed Reduction on Horncastle Road Due to Safety Concerns

Title: Safety Concerns Prompt Speed Reduction Demands on Horncastle Road by Residents

Residents of Horncastle Road in Wragby, Lincolnshire, are appealing to local authorities to address the ongoing issue of excessive speeding on their street, which they describe as highly problematic. Driven by a desire to enhance safety and reduce disturbances to their homes, campaigners are advocating for the current 40mph speed limit to be curtailed to 30mph.

Local resident David Spendlove has voiced concerns about permitting his children to cycle on the road due to the escalated speeds of bypassing traffic. The Lincolnshire County Council has recognised the plea for a speed limit review and proposed to evaluate the circumstances.

Having resided on Horncastle Road for three years, Rhonda Ledger has expressed concern about continually detecting vehicles whizzing past at alarming speeds beyond 50mph, which cause her home to experience vibrations. ‘In the duration of my stay here, the condition has progressively worsened. I fear that this could lead to a terrible accident,’ she expressed, emphasising the gravity of the issue.

Various suggestions have been proposed to combat the speeding problem, including the implementation of speed bumps, the construction of mini-roundabouts, or chicanes. Another resident, Ben Wilson, shared an incidence where he narrowly escaped a collision with an overtaking car as he veered into his driveway. He brought to attention how speeding lorries induce vibrations in houses.

Ruchira Yarsley, an East Lindsey District Councillor, pointed out that the situation is not confined to a particular group of drivers. She asserted, “From young drivers to adults, employees commuting to work, constructions workers, basically anyone taking to the wheel, seem to be contributing to this predicament.” She proposed the installation of a speed camera as a solution that could not only significantly increase revenue but also bolster safety.
