Significant Fire Engulfs Row of Terraced Homes in Lincolnshire

Police say there are no reported injuries following the blaze in Grey Street, Gainsborough.

Significant Fire Engulfs Row of Terraced Homes in Lincolnshire

Five houses in Lincolnshire have been struck by a significant fire, leaving three properties consumed by fire and two further houses suffering from smouldering damage. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported by the Lincolnshire Police.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have been fervently attempting to contain the fire, which was first reported around 14:00 BST on Grey Street.

Eight fire engines have been dispatched to the scene, with valuable assistance supplied by the Nottinghamshire and Humberside Fire and Rescue teams. Helen Tooley, the Divisional Commander for the East Division, has indicated that the team expects to begin reducing their efforts within the next few hours.

Local residents have been urged by the fire service to keep their windows and doors secured due to the risk from smoke.

Experience of the event was vividly recounted by local resident, Tracy Livesey: “I was overlooking my back garden when I spotted the smoke. It was rapidly worsening, and then I heard an eruption, leading me to discover that a house was on fire. The fire expanded through three houses as we watched. We lived only two doors away and were instructed to evacuate. I am uncertain about the condition of my rabbit as it remained in the garden.”

This current version of the story was extrapolated from original reporting found on www.bbc.com by The Lincoln Post.
