South Kesteven Introduces New Bin Collection Schedule After 12 Years

Residents of South Kesteven, Lincolnshire, are set to experience changes in their bin collection days, marking the first adjustments to the district council’s waste collection rounds in over twelve years. This comes as part of a drive to improve efficiency and save funds, spearheaded by Councillor Rhys Baker, the councillor bearing responsibility for environment and waste.

The adjusted programme intends to enhance operations by aligning the efforts of bin crews within the same area at the same time. This strategic adjustment should help temper traffic delays and strengthen the reliability of services.

The district council delivered this information to residents via personalised letters specifying the new day for waste and recycling collection. The frequency of collections stays at a weekly pace, however, the timing or collection day may be different. The council has confirmed that the adjustments span all bins including black, silver, the purple-lidded, and green waste bins, as well as pink and clear sacks for those who have subscribed.

In a dialogue with BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Councillor Baker elaborated on the previous system’s flaws which led to bin lorries covering unnecessary distances and causing potential hang-ups. The modified schedule is projected to truncate missed collections and elevate the standard of service on the whole. Addressing any concerns from residents, Baker urged anyone experiencing difficulties to seek out the council for support, reassurances were given that any immediate complications would be encountered and addressed swiftly.

For up to the minute local news, residents have been recommended to listen to BBC Radio Lincolnshire or watch Look North.
