Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Father and Son in Lincolnshire Canal

The pair drowned in Louth Canal after the Mercedes hit a telegraph pole, a coroner ruled.

A tragic accident near Tetney Lock, Lincolnshire, claimed the lives of Cameron Walsh, aged 16, and his father, David Walsh, who was 40 years old. The unfortunate event unfolded when their Mercedes GLC 300 collided with a telegraph pole during a test drive, causing the vehicle to become airborne before crashing into the Louth Canal. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, both individuals were pronounced dead after being submerged for over 40 minutes.

Information obtained from the inquest indicates that the assistant coroner for Greater Lincolnshire, Marianne Johnson, has submitted a report to prevent future occurrences of such unfortunate events. Tributes have since flooded to the scene of the accident, with loved ones expressing their grief through floral offerings in memory of the two lives tragically lost.

The local community recalls Cameron as an aspiring footballer, making his mark with Grimsby Town’s academy. His death, along with his father’s, have prompted serious concern regarding safety on the region’s roads. However, in response to these concerns, local authorities suggested that there is sufficient existing signage and the road conditions adhere to the required standards.
