Tributes Paid to Local Woman After Tragic Car Accident in Lincoln

The local community is in a state of grief following the untimely death of Maria Cristina Cherino Munoz, aged 55, who tragically passed away due to a collision at a pedestrian crossing in Lincoln. The disastrous event transpired on Carholme Road on 13 May, after which Ms Munoz succumbed to her injuries. Her family paid tribute to her as a supremely positive person who prioritised others before herself.

Lincolnshire Police have brought charges against Tarequl Islam, 32, a resident of Lindum Avenue, Lincoln. Islam is accused of causing severe injuries by dangerous driving, and is additionally charged with driving without third-party insurance and the requisite license. Proceedings on this matter are set to be continued at the Lincoln Crown Court on 12 June.

Cristina Munoz, originally from Spain, relocated to the UK 25 years ago for her study tenure at the University of Hull. At the onset of the 2000s, she moved to Lincoln and earned a venerable position in the University of Lincoln’s International Business School. Thereafter, she served as a ward clerk at the Lincoln County Hospital.

Ms Munoz’s family cherished her as a warmhearted and affectionate mother. They emphasised her enthusiasm for maintaining an active lifestyle, which often involved exercising with her dogs. The family expressed their heartbreak over her loss, stating it had created an unfillable void in their lives. They, however, made a resolve to keep her memory alive by carrying forward her teachings of merriment and optimism.

The fatal accident, involving a red Peugeot 107, happened around 20:00 BST. Cristina’s local community responded by laying floral tributes at the scene, a testament to how well-regarded she was in the local neighbourhood.
