Cleethorpes Man Jailed for Promoting Extremist Content

A Cleethorpes man has been given a 10-year prison term for encouraging ‘violent Jihad’, following conviction on terrorism charges earlier in the year. Sheffield Crown Court found 26-year old, Mohammed Mahfuz Ahmed, guilty of both sharing materials endorsing terrorism and distributing fanatical literature. In addition to his initial sentence, Ahmed is also slated to face an extended five-year licence and a five-year serious crime prevention order. His misconduct encompassed disbursement of Daesh propaganda and online encouragement of violent acts. The Counter Terrorism Policing North East closely tracked his actions. Ahmed’s activities were viewed as a significant menace, evidenced by his accumulation of over 1,300 followers and gaining more than 14,000 likes for his extremist content. Authorities will persist in their surveillance of him under terrorism notification requirements for a duration of 30 years after his release.
