Fuel Shortage Hits Lincolnshire Garages Due to Refinery Issues

Petrol supplies have become scarce for motorists in Lincolnshire as three petrol stations at Ulceby Cross, Partney, and Bilsby, all belonging to Gill Marsh Forecourts, have run out of unleaded petrol. This predicament directly follows after Lindsey Oil Refinery in Immingham declared insolvency on 29 June. Despite the UK government attaining an agreement to ensure continuing operations at the refinery, a lag in deliveries continues to cause problems.

Tom Dant, who is in charge of the petrol stations in question, voiced his worries regarding the disruption in supply chains. His stations rely on Harvest Energy for their supplies, a company under the Prax Group that also owns the aforementioned refinery. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero made it clear that levels of fuel stock remain normal throughout the UK, however, it also confirmed that there might be delays in deliveries.

While advice to motorists is to consider other petrol stations, Mr Dant is independently taking action to secure fuel from Liverpool, a measure that involves additional costs. Improvement is anticipated within the forthcoming fortnight as alternative routes of supply are being evaluated.
