Grimsby Children’s Park Suffers from ‘Mindless Vandalism’

Grimsby Children’s Park Suffers from ‘Mindless Vandalism’

The children’s play park in Grimsby has unfortunately become a victim of thoughtless vandalism. A sum of £7,270 is estimated for the repairs of the damages. The incident happened on 2 July at Kingston Gardens, situated off Chelmsford Avenue. It involved the uprooting of railings and concrete footings. Another detrimental act was the removal of the basket swing due to the damage caused by dogs that bit the rubber. Furthermore, the flooring was also ripped up, indicating the need for extensive repairs. Councillor Ron Shepherd from the North East Lincolnshire Council expressed his discontentment about the recurrent vandalisms. He revealed that a similar act of destruction took place last year when the Air Rider’s chains and platform were stolen. He commented that such acts are unacceptable and ruin the community’s enjoyment of local parks. The cost of repairing the damages will be used for the replacement of picnic benches, the basket swing, stolen equipment, and a general clean-up of the area. The council appeals to public members to report any information they have about the incident to the police.
