Grimsby Driver Sentenced After High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Crash

A resident of Grimsby has faced a sentencing of 18 months in prison after a high-speed police chase. The pursuit reached a top speed of 115mph and resulted in a crash involving a lamppost. The offender, named as 35-year-old Liam Collins from Carnforth Crescent, was detained subsequent to the affair on 24 November. He had been able to elude the police in his BMW before hitting the post and then attempting to make an escape from the scene. Collins confessed to offenses which included dangerous driving, refusal to provide a specimen for a breath test, and failure to stop when requested by the police. Beyond the prison sentence, the Lincoln Crown Court has also disqualified Collins from driving for a period of five years and nine months.
