Lincoln Care Home Faces £100,000 Payment Delays from Council

The owner of the home in Lincoln says a delay in payments means renovations have been put on hold.

Lincoln Care Home Faces £100,000 Payment Delays from Council

Bernadette House, a care home located in Lincoln, is experiencing considerable inconvenience as a result of a significant delay in payments from Lincolnshire County Council. The proprietor, Elizabeth Stephens, states that there is a backlog of payments amounting to approximately £100,000 for care provided to residents. This has led to a suspension on renovation works and also reduction in expenditure. The home, known for its speciality in dementia care, has endured similar circumstances over the past ten years. However, this instance is regarded as the worst backlog so far.

Investigations into the matter are underway by Lincolnshire County Council, with Councillor Steve Clegg representing them. Stephens vented out her frustrations towards the council’s finance team, arguing that there seem to be failings in several stages of the payment procedure. Clegg conceded to the possibility of setbacks arising from the overwhelming amounts of commissioned care services, but reassured that the council is dedicated to uphold the prompt payment standards.
